Why one visit for the whole list works better

A handyman visit is most useful when it covers several items at once. Instead of booking one trip for a sticky door and another for a loose towel bar, send the whole list with a photo of each item. We review it, ask about anything that is unclear, and group the work so it happens in a sensible order.

A list that has been building for months is often shorter in practice than it looks on paper once items are grouped by room and by the tools and materials they need. That is true whether the home is in Timberlea, Thickwood, Eagle Ridge, Parsons Creek, Gregoire or downtown.

Baseboards, trim and doors

Baseboards and door casing take a beating in a busy home: vacuum strikes, winter boots, pets, and the seasonal movement that comes with Fort McMurray's long, dry heating season. Gaps open at mitred corners, nails work loose, and trim gets damaged when flooring is replaced. We re-secure, replace and caulk trim, and install new baseboard after a flooring job so the room looks finished.

Doors that rub, won't latch or swing on their own usually need a hinge adjustment, a strike plate moved, or a new slab. We will tell you which after seeing it, and fit new hardware while we are there if the old handle or lock is worn.

Light fixtures, hardware and small fixes

Swapping a dated light fixture, replacing worn handles and locks, fixing a running toilet or resealing a tub are quick jobs that change how a home feels day to day. They are also the jobs most likely to sit on a list for a year.

If something on your list needs a licensed trade, such as a new electrical circuit, a panel change or moving plumbing lines, we will say so up front so you can book the right person instead of paying for a visit that can't finish the job.
